Quick Answer
ClawHosters is managed hosting for OpenClaw, the open-source AI assistant. You pay €19, €35, or €59 a month for a dedicated server in Germany, connect Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, or Slack, and skip the Docker and server work.
Four free AI models are included, but with daily and monthly token limits. The 48-hour trial needs a card, there is no formal uptime SLA, and refunds are not offered. It suits hobbyists and small teams. It is a poor fit if you need an audited vendor or Microsoft Teams.
My pick: Budget if you only want a Telegram bot. Balanced if you want the browser tool, Mission Control, and priority support.
Card required at signup. You are not charged until the trial ends.
ClawHosters at a Glance
ClawHosters is run by Daniel Samer in Germany as a product of Yixn.io. Servers sit in Hetzner data centers in Falkenstein. That is a one-person operation. It explains the fast ticket replies some reviewers mention, and it also explains the missing SLA.
The software underneath is OpenClaw, an open-source assistant created by Peter Steinberger. It began life as Clawdbot, became Moltbot, and took the OpenClaw name in early 2026. Running it on your own machine costs nothing. Keeping it online, patched, and secure is the part people give up on. That gap is what ClawHosters sells.
One more data point: ClawHosters shows a 4.5 rating on Trustpilot, but when I checked it rested on only 18 reviews. Treat it as a friendly signal, not proof.
ClawHosters Pricing in 2027
Every price below is in euros and comes from the live ClawHosters pricing page as of October 23, 2026. I found no announced 2027 changes, so treat these as current and confirm at checkout.
| Feature | Budget | Balanced | Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly price | €19 | €35 | €59 |
| vCPU / RAM / SSD | 2 / 4 GB / 40 GB | 4 / 8 GB / 80 GB | 8 / 16 GB / 160 GB |
| Traffic | 20 TB | 20 TB | 20 TB |
| Daily-billing rate | 60 Claws/day | 105 Claws/day | 175 Claws/day |
| Free AI models | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| SSH access | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |

One correction to the earlier version of this review: “Claws/day” is not a usage cap. It is what a daily-billed instance costs per day. Claws are ClawHosters’ prepaid credit, and you only need them for daily billing or for AI usage above the free limits.
| Claws pack | Price | Claws | Bonus | Cost per Claw |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | €10 | 650 | None | €0.0154 |
| Plus | €20 | 1,380 | +6% | €0.0145 |
| Pro | €40 | 2,900 | +12% | €0.0138 |
| Elite | €80 | 6,100 | +17% | €0.0131 |
| Mega | €160 | 13,000 | +25% | €0.0123 |
The takeaway is simple. Daily billing costs more than a monthly plan on every tier, even with the biggest bonus pack. Budget on the smallest pack works out to about €27.69 for 30 days against €19 monthly. Daily billing also adds a one-time setup fee of 150, 300, or 450 Claws, and daily instances cannot change tier. Choose it only if you really want to pay by the day.
Add-ons and costs outside the plan price
- Extra storage: a separate disk, starting at 100 GB for €15 a month. It does not extend the built-in disk.
- Backup add-on: full server snapshots with 7, 30, or 90-day retention. Pricing is not shown on the public page.
- Managed LLM packs: prepaid token bundles from about €3 to €70 a month if you do not want to manage an API key.
- Web Hosting add-on: 999 Claws a month, roughly €12 to €15, to run your own web app on the instance.
Refunds are not offered. Because the server is provisioned right away, you waive the 14-day EU withdrawal right at checkout. Downgrades are also impossible. If you want a smaller tier, you rebuild on a new instance and reconfigure everything.
Cancel before the trial ends to avoid the first charge.
How I Evaluated This Review
Here is the honest version. For this update I did not run a fresh uptime or load test, so you will not find invented stopwatch results below. I rebuilt the review from primary sources instead.
I read the live pricing page, the affiliate terms, and the full FAQ, which holds 147 entries across nine categories. I compared every claim in my earlier version against them and fixed what did not match. I also cross-checked the public Trustpilot page and a few competitor comparison pages, and I treated those competitor pages as marketing.
The FAQ is unusually candid about problems. I count that in ClawHosters’ favor, and I used it to build the next section.
Quirks and Limits the Docs Admit To
These are the issues most likely to cost you an evening. All of them come from ClawHosters’ own FAQ.
- WhatsApp is not the official Business API. It pairs like a linked device through the WhatsApp Web protocol (Baileys) with a QR code, so use a dedicated number. The dashboard can show “Waiting” for about 30 seconds after connecting, and groups can go silent after a reconnect.
- WhatsApp groups are off by default. The default group policy is an empty allowlist. If the bot ignores every group, the usual cause is a missing
groupAllowFromsetting. - Discord Error 4014 means “Message Content Intent” is not enabled in the Discord Developer Portal. The bot then silently ignores messages.
- Reminders can fail quietly. If the model creates a
systemEventcron job instead ofagentTurn, nothing reaches your chat. Lightweight models such as Gemini Flash Lite are the usual culprits. - Python-based skills can fail. Containers ship without Python, uv, or pip, so ClawHub skills that need them will not run. Skills with heavy dependencies can also eat 500 MB to 2 GB each on a 40 GB Budget disk.
- Sandbox mode does not work. You will see “Sandbox mode requires Docker” because the instance is already a container. Set
agents.defaults.sandbox.modeto off. - Long chats overflow. The log error is “Context overflow: prompt too large for the model.” Send /new to reset. If that failure sounds familiar, my guide to the Cursor AI context limit issue shows the same problem from the IDE side.
- Newer OpenClaw versions changed defaults. After v2026.3.28, some models return “Reasoning is required for this model endpoint” until you set a
thinkingLevel. - Rebuild means factory reset. It wipes chat history, cron jobs, tokens, and files. Only the IP, subdomain, tier, and billing mode survive.
Slow replies are the other common complaint. The FAQ blames cron jobs blocking the message queue and bloated context. My notes on fixing “Claude taking longer than usual” cover the model side of that problem.
Free AI Models: What You Actually Get
Every plan includes four managed models: Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite, DeepSeek R1, DeepSeek V3, and Kimi K2.5. The marketing line says “Kimi K2.5, Gemini Flash or Deepseek,” which is why the earlier version of this post counted three. The FAQ lists four.
The catch is the limit. The models carry daily and monthly token caps, and the public pages do not publish the numbers. When a monthly subscriber passes the daily cap, extra AI usage is deducted from Claws. With no Claws left, those extra AI features pause until the next daily reset. The instance itself stays online.
| Way to power your bot | Cost | Limit to know about |
|---|---|---|
| Included free models | €0 within limits | Daily and monthly token caps, numbers unpublished |
| Managed LLM packs | About €3 to €70 a month | Prepaid bundles in Eco, Standard, and Premium tiers |
| Bring your own key (BYOK) | Free; you pay the provider | Your provider’s rate limits. Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, DeepSeek, Mistral, Groq, and OpenRouter work |
| Local model via ZeroTier | Your own hardware | Your machine must stay online. Ollama works over an encrypted tunnel |
Model choice matters more than the host here. The FAQ says lightweight models struggle with tool calling, which is how cron jobs get created. For tool-heavy work it suggests Grok 4.1 Fast, GLM-5, Claude Sonnet 4, or GPT-4o. If you bring a key, I have separate write-ups on Mistral AI and ChatGPT 5.6, and Kimi’s newer model is covered in my Kimi K3 review.
Also check your region. The FAQ warns that Anthropic and OpenAI block API requests from several countries, and key validation fails even with a valid key.
How ClawHosters Setup Works
Features Worth Knowing About
If you like keeping your assistant’s memory files in Obsidian, the FAQ suggests syncing them to the instance workspace. My comparison of Remotely Save vs LiveSync covers the sync plugins people use for that.
Is ClawHosters Safe? Privacy, Security, and One Real Risk
| Question | What ClawHosters says |
|---|---|
| Where is data stored? | Hetzner Cloud data centers in Falkenstein, Germany, and it does not leave the EU |
| Encryption | TLS in transit and AES-256 for stored data |
| Isolation | A dedicated server per instance, with Docker isolation and three firewall layers: Hetzner Cloud Firewall, iptables, and fail2ban |
| Who can see my data? | Support sees server metadata. Application data only with your explicit permission |
| After I cancel | Data deleted within 30 days. Billing records are kept 10 years under German tax law. Server logs are wiped after 90 days |
| Uptime guarantee | None. The FAQ says there are no formal SLA guarantees, and liability is capped at three months of payments |
| Independent audit | I did not find a published third-party security audit |
The hosting side looks sensible for a budget service. The bigger risk sits in how you configure the agent.
Since OpenClaw v2026.4.2, new instances default to exec mode “full” with approvals off. In plain terms, the agent can run shell commands without asking you. That is convenient for a personal bot. It is a bad default if other people can message it, or if you install community skills you have not read. Use an allowlist for guest agents, lock Telegram to your own user ID with channels.telegram.allowFrom, and read a skill’s requirements before you install it.
The same lesson applies to any agent with real permissions. For a broader view, see whether Claude Cowork is safe for you.
Finally, ignore the “dangerous config flags” warning in your logs. The FAQ says ClawHosters sets those flags so the dashboard proxy works, and removing them locks you out. Do not change gateway.bind either.
ClawHosters vs Self-Hosting vs Other Managed Hosts
| Factor | ClawHosters | DIY VPS | Your own computer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Setup | Dashboard wizard | Docker, reverse proxy, TLS, firewall | Install and run the gateway |
| Monthly cost | €19 to €59, plus optional AI and add-ons | VPS bill plus API costs | Electricity plus API costs |
| Patching and security | Handled by ClawHosters | You | You |
| Always online | Yes, no SLA | Depends on your setup | Only while the machine is on |
| Data location | Germany (Hetzner) | Wherever you choose | Your hardware |
| Channels | Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, Slack | Whatever OpenClaw supports | Whatever OpenClaw supports |
| Control | SSH on all plans, some settings locked | Full | Full |
If automation on a schedule is what you want, my Claude Code YouTube automation walkthrough shows a different route to the same idea.
What ClawHosters Really Costs: Three Scenarios
| Scenario | Plan | Hosting per year | Other costs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personal Telegram assistant | Budget, €19/mo | €228 | €0 on free models within limits |
| Small-business support bot | Balanced, €35/mo | €420 | Your AI provider bill, or a managed LLM pack |
| Agency with several agents | Pro €59/mo + 100 GB storage €15/mo | €888 | Backup add-on, AI usage; each extra instance is billed separately |
Annual figures are my arithmetic from the monthly prices. The Backup add-on price is not public, so I left it out of the totals.

What I corrected in this update
- Free models: four, not three, and with daily and monthly token limits.
- “No credit card hassle”: the trial needs a card, and nothing is charged until it ends.
- “Claws/day”: a daily billing rate, not a usage limit.
- “Guaranteed 24/7 uptime”: 99.9% is a target, and there is no formal SLA.
- Removed unverified claims: a stated 8-minute setup, invented bar-chart scores, and numeric ratings.
- Added the missing affiliate disclosure, refund policy, and downgrade limits.
FAQ
What is ClawHosters?
ClawHosters is managed hosting for OpenClaw AI assistants. It runs the server, updates, and security for you so you can connect an assistant to Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, or Slack.
How much does ClawHosters cost?
Plans cost €19 (Budget), €35 (Balanced), and €59 (Pro) per month. You can also pay daily in Claws, but that costs more than a monthly plan on every tier.
Does ClawHosters have a free trial?
Yes, 48 hours. A card is required and is not charged until the trial ends. The pricing page shows the trial button on Budget and Balanced, and “Get Started” on Pro.
Does ClawHosters include AI models?
Yes. Every plan includes Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite, DeepSeek R1, DeepSeek V3, and Kimi K2.5, subject to daily and monthly token limits.
Can I use my own API key?
Yes. Bring-your-own-key is free, and you pay your provider directly. Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, DeepSeek, Mistral, Groq, and OpenRouter are supported.
Which messaging apps does ClawHosters support?
Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, and Slack. You can connect all four to one instance at once. WhatsApp pairs through a QR code on a dedicated number.
Does ClawHosters offer refunds or an SLA?
No to both. Refunds are not offered because the server is provisioned immediately, and the FAQ says there are no formal SLA guarantees.
Can I SSH into my ClawHosters server?
Yes, on every plan. Enable it in the Access tab, then use the provided key or add your own public key.
Where is my data stored?
On Hetzner Cloud servers in Falkenstein, Germany. ClawHosters says data stays inside the EU.
What happens if my Claws run out?
A daily-billed instance is paused with a snapshot. You then have 3 days to top up before it is permanently deleted. Monthly instances keep running.
Conclusion
ClawHosters does one job well: it removes the server work from running an OpenClaw assistant. For a Telegram or Discord bot, €19 a month is a fair price, and the free models let you start without an API key.
Be clear-eyed about the trade-offs. There is no SLA, no refund, no downgrade path, and the free AI comes with limits you cannot see in advance. The business is also one person. None of that is a dealbreaker for a hobby bot. It matters more for a customer-facing one.
My verdict: yes for individuals and small teams, with Balanced as the sensible plan once you want the browser tool and Mission Control. No if you need audited security or a contractual uptime promise. Use the free trial to test your own channel setup before paying.
